Tomographic Inversion

• Use iteration to find damped and weighted Least Squares solution, in a rigorous derivation of the inverse solution that is equivalent to Simultaneous Iterative Reconstruction Technique (SIRT).

• The damping weights are number of rays passing through a block and error weights are the uncertainties in the travel time picks.

• Damping is adjusted (dynamically as the solution progresses) to the minimum value that allows convergence. (maximum stable resolution)
